Treatment from experts

As part of the Clinical Research Unit for Anxiety and Depression (CRUfAD), the Anxiety Disorders Clinic’s team of psychiatrists and clinical psychologists are experts in CBT and are at the forefront of research into the treatment of anxiety. 

The Clinic’s treatment is founded on over 35 years of research. Our treatment manuals are used by clinicians all over the world.

Led by Professor Gavin Andrews, the clinic is involved in a range of research projects investigating the nature, causes and treatment of anxiety disorders.

No / Low cost

There is no charge for assessment if you have a Medicare card, or for  face-to-face CBT treatment at the Anxiety Disorders Clinic.  

In many cases patients are also prescribed iCBT (internet-based CBT) alongside face-to-face treatment.

Internet-based treatment courses are run through THIS WAY UP. The iCBT courses cost A$59 for three months access, however face-to-face clinician guidance during internet courses remains free of charge.

Face-to-Face

The Anxiety Disorders Clinic provides face-to-face CBT treatment services, located at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney.  Patients may be recommended face-to-face therapy for a number of reasons, and face-to-face treatment may be particularly more suitable for patients with:

– concentration or memory issues
– language difficulties
– limited ability or access to technology

At your initial assessment, your clinician will assess whether face-to -face therapy at our service will be helpful to you.

Casual paid car parking is available at St Vincent’s Hospital, and metred parking is also available in surrounding side-streets.

Our Structure

The Anxiety Disorder Clinic (ADC) is part of the Clinical Research Unit for Anxiety and Depression (CRUfAD). CRUfAD is a joint facility of St Vincent’s Hospital and the University of New South Wales established to reduce the impact of anxiety and depressive disorders on individuals.

Our Team

Led by Professor Gavin Andrews,  the Anxiety Disorders Clinic has a dedicated team of experienced psychiatrists and clinical psychologists.

Initial assessments are conducted by specialist psychiatrists. Follow-up assessments and treatment are conducted by clinical psychologists and psychiatrists.

On occasion, intern clinical psychologists and registrars will observe and/or provide treatment. All interns are supervised by specialist clinicians.
